2011 Volt, a "range extended EV", now usually referred to as a plugin hybrid. I use it as an EV 99% of the time as I drive every day, but almost always short distances. Consequently I use maybe 2 tanks of gas per year. Cost me $8,500 used in 2017, these days the same car goes for around 7k used.

I would urge you to consider a plugin hybrid. The generation 2 Volts do ~50-60 miles on a charge and are very reasonably priced on the used market.

It's not that much extra over a regular hybrid but depending on your usage patterns it can just about wipe out your gas consumption entirely.
