Indeed, but a circle is a flat shape. There was a Hebrew word for ‘ball’ the authors might’ve used, but didn’t. Further confirming that they intended a flat circle are verses like Proverbs 8:27: “When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth.”
Other translations read “when he drew a circle upon the face of the deep”, in either case confirming that the creation of the Earth was the definition of a flat, circular landmass, not a spherical planet.
