It isn’t dishonest. It differs from what you’ve heard from apologists because it’s actually the apologist who have lied to you, and you have believed them. You are in a religion which basically began as an end of the world cult, but outlived the death of it’s founder.
You presumably recognize many other religions began as cults, like Scientology, Mormonism, Islam, etc. but you do not have the self-awareness to realize you’re in the same sort of thing, but you can’t tell that’s what it is, because it is designed to prevent that realization.
This is also why Muslims do not realize they are deceived, Mormons, Scientologists, etc. “The easy confidence with which I know another man’s religion is folly teaches me to suspect that my own is also.” — Mark Twain
Anyway, it’s really funny you’d link me to creationist apologetics. I don’t think you’re aware of what a laughing stock creationism is even to most Christians. They are considered the absolute dumbest of the dumb, second only to flat Earthers, who are themselves a subset of young Earth creationism with a focus on the Biblical cosmological model.
Singling out one verse you can interpret different ways is just re-arranging deck chairs on the titanic. To make that case, you have to strategically ignore the dozens of other verses describing various elements of the ancient Hebrew model of the Earth, which every historian specializing in that period and region agrees was a flat disc covered in a solid dome.
This was also the cosmology of neighboring Egypt and Babylon, and featured in their religions. But I don’t see you making such creative excuses for them, because you do not belong to those religions, so you have no emotional motive to defend their credibility. Instead of trying to prop up their mistaken ideas about cosmology, you simply let them be wrong.
You may say this has been “dealt with”. But just because an apologist somewhere opened his mouth and something tumbled out does not mean it has actually been rebutted. It just means an apologist said something in response to it, and because he was the same religion as you, you believed him, because your standards for faith promoting information are very low.
Muslims may also point to their own apologists who have issued some sort of answer to absolutely every objection any Christian has ever raised to their theology. Does this mean Islam is true? Does it mean the answers of Islamic apologists are correct, just because they issued some sort of response? Or is this just something every religion does?
Anyway, I am not interested in a protacted exchange with you. You are my inferior. You have much to learn from me, but not the reverse. Probably you do not see it this way currently. I urge you to continue to research the matter from at least a few non-creationist websites. You will discover every serious academic resource confirms what I have told you. If at that time you’re able to adopt a teachable attitude, then return and read these articles with fresh eyes.
