Well some of us wouldn’t be as moved by the philosophical implications as by the chance to finally study some non-terrestrial DNA. Not that it wouldn’t be an emotional moment but some of us assumed all along that life didn’t only arise once, so it would not come as much of a surprise, rather an inevitability. Seeing the product of independent abiogenesis and how evolution proceeded along a totally different path would be far and away worth the billions of dollars needed to retrieve such a sample.
