When I said the maximum theoretical energy density of lithium batteries is close to petrol, I was not talking about Tesla’s batteries. I was talking about lithium air, which you seem to have never heard of: https://cen.acs.org/articles/88/i47/Rechargeable-Metal-Air-Batteries.html
Second, nobody ever thought electricity was a primary energy source. Nobody has ever claimed that is. However, your claim that it MUST be produced from fossil fuels is not true. I have solar panels for example, and 40% of grid power in my state comes from hydro.
What’s more, you gloss casually over the efficiency advantage of electric motors without acknowledging that a motor which is much more efficient than internal combustion engines therefore produces less pollution per mile, on a wide range of grid mixtures including fossil fuels.
Perhaps Germany is the one developed country where that isn’t true, but presenting it as typical, as though it’s the same everywhere else, is dishonest: https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1121222_dont-worry-about-coal-electric-cars-are-still-cleaner
As for cities having EV chargers, I didn’t intend for it to be taken as all cities, everywhere in the world. Rather a few big cities, such as New York, which did in fact have plentiful EV charging posts you can find photos of on Google without much trouble.
